Langham Parish Church
New trees planted in Langham Community Park

On Friday 8th March, village resident Shirley Myatt and a couple of volunteers planted 3 new trees. The purchase of the trees was funded by Langham Parish Council. The trees are:

Features, benefit for wildlife:

Field maple is attractive to aphids and their predators, including many species of ladybird, hoverfly and bird. Lots of species of moth, such as the mocha, feed on its leaves. The flowers provide nectar and pollen sources for bees and birds, and small mammals eat the fruits.

Height/spread 10 x 3m

Features, benefit for wildlife:

keeps its leaves all year round, providing shelter, roosting, nesting and foraging opportunities for birds and small mammals. Hornbeam is the food plant for caterpillars of a number of moth species, including the nut tree tussock.

Features, benefit for wildlife:

Attractive silver underside to foliage, good autumn colour, spring flowers, autumn berries. Benefits insects birds and moths
