Current water level in Langham Brook at the A606 bridge.
This is updated every 30 minutes. The blue line is the recorded water lavel which under normal conditions is a trickle and less than 1cm deep. If the depth exceeds 1.25m then measurements will be taken every 5 minutes.
Alarms are set at 1.25m which sends out an Amber Alert by e-mail and SMS to the Langham Flood Wardens. A Red Alert is sent out if the depth reaches or exceeds 1.6m (the black line). Residents with properties vulnerable to flooding can sign up to receive these alerts by contacting the Parish Clerk

Highlights from the most recent meeting of Langham Parish Council
Tuesday April 29th 2025 at Langham Village Hall
LPC meetings are held at Langham Village Hall. Langham residents are welcome to speak before the start of a Parish Council meeting about any items on the agenda and to observe the full meeting. New Parish Councillor co-opted Langham Parish Councillors unanimously approved the co-option of Andrew Tilbrook to Langham Parish Council and he is warmly welcomed.
Flooding update: Langham Parish Council now has a Village Flood Plan, a Flood Committee and 4 Village Flood Wardens. Langham Village Hall is a designated ‘safe space’, where emergency flood supplies will be stored. High viz waterproof jackets printed with ‘Flood Warden’ are to be purchased for the Flood Wardens, who are collecting details of properties vulnerable to flooding. The water level logger device has now been successfully installed on the A606 bridge and water levels can now be seen on the Langham Parish Council website. Rutland County Council’s new Flood Risk Officer is now in post, but the Parish Council has, as yet, been unable to enter discussion and has asked County Councillor Oliver Hemsley to help achieve this.
Community Park update: tree works to tidy up and ensure the safety of trees in the Community Park are scheduled for May 9th. Langham C of E primary School pupils were asked to choose an addition to the play equipment currently available in the Park and have now picked an active climbing net. An initial quote has been received and two further quotes are being sought. LPC is also considering additional equipment for older children, again with a view to installation this year. The additional equipment will be purchased using CIL monies.
Cold Overton Road development: the 18 house section of the site is now being sold by Langton Homes, the original purchasers of the full site. It is understood that the new purchaser will start work in August/September, working to the specification as submitted for planning approval by Langton Homes. There have been delays to the sale by Langton Homes of the 50 house section of the site to Persimmon Homes, which will be developed under their Charles Church brand, and an application for Reserved Matters is expected soon.
Ranksborough Solar Farm it is understood that work on the site is due to start soon.
LPC’s Annual meeting– a date for your diary: this year’s Annual Meeting will be on Tuesday 27th May at 7pm in the Village Hall

New Planning Applications:
2025/0406/FUL 9 Fairfield Close: Fell 1no. Conifer (T1) to ground level. Recommend approval.
2025/0370/FUL. The Vicarage 67 Church Street: Proposed two storey rear extension, new front lobby area, new windows and doors, render and brick finishes, minor alterations, solar panels and Oak Framed Double garage. Recommend approval.
2025/0407/FUL & 2025/0408/LBA Warren Cottage, 24 Church Street: Replacement windows, rendering. As regard the windows, the application form states that Warren Cottage is Grade II listed. The materials to be used afor the proposed replacement windows are not those usually thought appropriate for listed buildings, but as UPVC has already been approved for other windows, we do not oppose the application for UPVC windows and rendering. Recommend approval
