Policy SG4: Climate Change and Flooding

1. With Langham being susceptible to flooding, any development of three or more houses must demonstrate adherence to government guidelines on the mitigation of flood risk by carrying out a flood risk assessment using the Sequential Test for Flooding. No development will be permitted on any flood plain.

This Policy will become more important as the impact of climate change on weather patterns increases.

2. In addition, developers must demonstrate in their Design and Access Statement that they have consulted with Severn Trent Water to mitigate against potential overload of Langham’s aged sewerage system and sewage works.
