Update of Langham Community Fibre Partnership (CFP)
Openreach have now told Langham Parish Council that they anticipate that Langham will be included in the rollout from the Oakham exchange which is due to happen between March 2023 and March 2024. This will upgrade Langham to FTTP which provides much faster broadband speeds, and will be at the beginning of Openreach’s commercial rollout. When the decision is confirmed the voucher scheme for a CFP will be withdrawn for Langham.

Update April 2024. The installation of fibre in and around Oakham is currently underway. You may have noticed all the trenches being dug for the ducting. Once Oakham is completed, the rollout will coninue in the surrounding villages that are connected to Oakham exchange.

Community Fibre Partnership (CFP)
'LPC are at the initial stage of applying for a Community Fibre Partnership (CFP) with Openreach who will build a customised fibre solution to bring fibre broadband direct to homes and businesses in Langham, or upgrade the fibre broadband you already have to even faster speeds. This will enable you to use multiple devices all at the same time without speed issues. Openreach will build an open network which means individually you will still be able to choose your own internet supplier.
A new scheme opened in April, and we have registered to be included. We have submitted a list of all the eligible addresses in Langham to Openreach and they should get back to us with a quotation for the cost of the scheme by early May. If LPC accept the quotation, Openreach then submit the application to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
Once we have had the pre-approval of our application from DCMS we will deliver a leaflet to every eligible household and business explaining how you register for the scheme. If enough households and businesses register, it is anticipated that a government voucher scheme will cover the costs of the upgrade. It is expected that the whole process will take about 12 months.
We will keep you informed of our progress, so please keep an eye on the website. Cllr Maskell is leading the project for LPC, and she will be happy to answer any queries you may have.
