2026/27 Correspondence
Works to cut back tree from overhead power cables on Mickley Lane to be completed on 3rd March 2026.
2026/28 To consider installation of replacement fence at Community Park, Burley Road. Quotations requested and awaited. To be considered at next meeting.
2026/29 To consider installation of a depth gauge on A606 – It was agreed that a request will be made to RCC Highways for a flood water depth gauge to be installed on the A606. Permission for the Parish Council to install a gauge will be requested if RCC are unable to.

2026/30 Flooding
Cllr. Besant will circulate the completed plan and submit a copy to LLR Resilience and RCC (LLFA) flood officer.
2026/31 CIL projects
- Village sign – in progress
- Rewilding – ongoing. Test beds progressing well.
2026/32 Planning
- To receive planning applications and decisions since the last meeting – see 2026/34 below.
- Planning updates – 2026/0091/DIS Discharge of Condition 6 (Site Levels) in relation to planning application 2023/0577/FUL - Section 73 for Variation of Condition No. 24 (Landscaped Buffer to the Northern Boundary with The Glade) on planning permission ref: 2021/1423/MAO (Erection of up to 50 no. dwellings with associated access, highways, open space and drainage infrastructure (all matters reserved except access)). The variation will reduce the minimum landscaped buffer from 20m to 10m.
The Parish Council were not consulted on this discharge of condition application and have registered a complaint with Rutland County Council and commented in objection to the proposal.
- 2026/33 AOB – items for the next meeting
Cllr Taylor raised concern that the Vintners site on Burley Road is falling into disrepair and as a Listed Building it should be maintained. The clerk will raise this matter with Rutland County Council planning department.
Cllr. Taylor and Cllr. Tilbrook reported that contractor vehicles are damaging verges, and these should be reinstated. Cllr. Taylor agreed to provide photographs of the damage which will be reported.
Cllr. Viner confirmed that the annual litter pick will take place on 18th April 2026.
Cllr. Catlin suggested that the addition of ‘bleed kits’ to the defibrillators be considered. It was agreed that the volunteers maintaining the defibrillators be contacted to discuss and a formal proposal be made at the next meeting.

2026/34
2026/120/FUL. The Old Bakehouse, 11 Melton Road
Raise walls on existing side extension to provide increase in headroom internally, rebuild roof over as before. Provision of an external canopy to shade GF windows linked to an existing canopy, elevation to front courtyard and driveway. Replacement of all existing doors and windows and the provision of 3 No. new windows in new openings. Renovation and repair of existing external render and the repainting of the whole external elevations. Demolition of an existing timber shed and erection of a new detached covered seating area, erection of a 1.8m high fence and gate between the drive and rear garden.
This application seems reasonable and largely concerns replacing what is. However, without knowing what colour is intended for the replacement windows/doors, it is difficult to make a final judgement.
